Sailing - Port Cros, Porquerolles
One of my colleagues is Irish. What's more, he is a captain. And we are on the Côte d'Azur. As a consequence, here is the opportunity to go sailing. So, seven of us, colleagues had a day off, Friday and were looking forward to having great wind over the weekend. We were sailing out from Cogolin on a 44 feet Feeling. Our plan was to go to Port Cros and to Porquerolles, two islands not far away. The first day we had such a wind, I was having difficulties not to be sea sick (with little success), but the rest of the days were just okay. Sailing is fun. Knowing what to do when, how to drive, how to turn and how to anchor were all a great experience. The water was crystal clear and we had an underwater camera for the footage. It is unbelievable how much man can forget about the real life when sailing, there is no time, no work, no rules. I would gladly go again...

Vilafranca del Penedès
One of my colleagues had the idea why do not we go with him to his birth town to the biggest festival of the year. And we did so. Four of us, me and three colleagues were flying out to Barcelona on Friday evening. Even though we arrived late, picked up a car that was left at the airport by Ton's parents we went to Vilafranca to look for the festival. At 1am. And we found it. There was a small square with couple of hundred people listening to some comedian. After having a beer Ton told us to go on, check out another square. Well, there we found at least ten times more people. And this happened once more. While walking the streets, all his friends cheered him and us as well. We went to bed late night, in a huge house they own on the countryside. Next morning we went in to town again. The attraction for that day were the human towers. It is quite spectacular how people climb on each other to reach 8-9 levels. After spending the day in an amazing crowd, so dense I have never seen before we went to Ton's parents' where we had dinner. They treated us as family members. After a little nap in the evening we went in to town again. The programs were quite different. Compared to the bands plays previous evening, this evening lots of groups performed on the streets dancing, drumming and making noise. The whole town was out on the streets till morning. We were wrecked. On Sunday morning we watched human towers again, and after having lunch again with our hosts, they gave us a lift to the airport. It was a quite intensive weekend.

Bern, Interlaken
We have spent a weekend together in Switzerland. The idea was to go to the mountains, so we rented a car and booked a room in Unterseen next to Interlaken. Departing from Zurich we were heading for Bern, the capital of Switzerland although it is not the city with the biggest population. We have been walking up and down the streets and we found the typical Swiss buildings everywhere. The weather was relatively okay with sunny minutes so we had great time. Since we arrived a little late whe did not have the chance to visit any of the museums, but the well organized city and a little show about the history meant we were not disappointed at all. Next station was Unterseen.

The hotel
After we checked in we decided to go for a walk. We were suprised how small town is Interlaken. It take most half an hour to reach the other end. Meanwhile it started raining which did not bother us much. We arrived back to the hotel a little wet but with the ambitious plans for the next day: let's go up to the mountains!

The view from our window
After having breakfast we drove up the scenic road from Unterseen to Grindelwald. Leaving our car behind we were heading for the Lower Glacier which unfortunatelly was not visible at this time of the year. However, the more than 800 steps that lead to the top is a memory for good.

Katus standing on the suspension bridge
We carried on hiking on an easy path surrounded by the mountains, including Jungfrau. The scenery was beautiful. We had to be careful not to go too far since I had to be at Zurich Airport well in time. So, after eating the delicious curd cake we went back to the car and drove back to Zurich. We stopped once more by a beautiful lake.

Lungerer See
Next day I woke up in Villeneuve-Loubet again.

Grasse and Saint-Paul
Last weekend we have been to Grasse. It is located a little further away from the coastline on the hillside. My collegues told me there is a parfume factory which is worth visiting. After getting information in the Tourist Office, we took a tour in the factory. As it was Saturday, we could not see the procedure ourselves, but a guide told us what is being done in which room. The brand is Fragonard, which I have not heard of before. After this, walking in the old town was nice opposed to what I was told before. There was going to be a jazz guitar duo gig in the evening, so we decided to stay. We found a nice little restaurant just a couple of meters away from the performers. After finishing with the lamb dish it started raining. I was extremely careful with the scooter on our way home.

On Sunday, we visited a small village called Saint-Paul North from Cagnes-sur-Mer. The narrow pathways, the huge leander trees, small signs, door knocks are those which describe this beautiful village. Most of the little shops are galeries. Many famous painters lived here including Chagall (who we could not find in the graveyard). Unfortunately we had to leave early so that Katus can reach her flight.

Mesdames et Messieurs
Once upon a time I started this blog. Shortly after arriving to Colorado. It was me, my camera and my blog to explore the unknown. We have lots of common memories. The other day I started reading it from the beginning and realized how much I forgot of all those that happened with me. I decided to continue not only the share but to remember. Remember what I was gone through. What I experienced. What I live for. What we live for. And this last sentence contains the keyword.

Embrun - Tour de France
With my collegue we decided to visit Embrun up in the Alps. It was the departure town of two stages this year. From here it was about 200km, most of it among the ridges, passing by Isola the famous ski resort. The weather was ugly all day long. It was overcast in the morning. By the time we arrived, it started raining. Poor riders, these conditions were not too pleasing for them at that altitude. On Col-de-la-Bonette, it was 6°C! Anyways, this was the first time I have seen the Tour de France live. Real live. After all the ceremony and departure, we explored the town of Embrun.
